Edmonton continues to lead the rebounding economy in Alberta. The Capital of the Province and known as Alberta’s “Festival City”, Edmonton is home to more than one million people. Edmonton is the supply base for Alberta’s ever expanding petroleum industry - the industrial supplier to the tar sands, supply depot to the growing Northern Alberta population, and the administrative hub for Northern Alberta and Northern Canada. Economic growth for Edmonton is projected at 4.4% through 2012.

- Edmonton’s educated entrepreneurial workforce has grown 1.2% since the fall of 2008 reaching 649,000 workers as of March 2009, Alberta’s seasonally adjusted employment rate was 6.0% in April,2009, well below the National average of 8.0%
