Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; the City of Bridges. One of Canada’s fastest growing cities in both population and GDP, Saskatoon is Saskatchewan’s largest city with an estimated CMA of 257,000 (Statistics Canada - 2009). Driving Saskatoon’s economy are mining and the oil industry. The city is headquarters to two of Canada’s mining leaders: Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and uranium giant Cameco.

Saskatoon is also home to a thriving high-tech industry. Innovation Place, located at the University of Saskatchewan, is the research home of bio-technology companies including Aventis, Bayer Incorporated, Philom Bios, Dow Agrosciences Canada, Monsanto and Novartis.

Canada’s only synchrotron, the Canadian Light Source, is located in the city. The facility attracts over 3,000 scientists and researchers yearly and generates 35 million dollars annually in commercial research and development.

The Conference Board of Canada says Saskatoon will once again be one of the leading cities in the country for economic growth during 2010 and will remain in the top five for Canada until at least 2014.
