(Toronto) Kathy Dore, President, Canwest Broadcasting, along with Barbara Williams, Executive Vice President, Content, announced today the highly-anticipated 2008-2009 Primetime Schedules for the Global Television and E! networks. Direct from Toronto's historic Elgin Theatre, over 1500 advertisers, industry and press gathered earlier this morning to celebrate Canada's most talked-about fall lineups.
“We’re committed to providing the best in television entertainment, and this year proves no exception. With the amazing array of new and returning primetime offerings scheduled across Global and E!, we’ll engage viewers and advertisers with top notch programming while leveraging opportunities across multimedia platforms,” said Dore. “Our team has delivered yet again and we look forward to presenting a strong launch and enduring new season.”
The 13 NEW series added to the Global and E! lineups feature fall’s most buzz-worthy candidates, rich with high-calibre talent on both sides of the camera. These series complement a host of returning fan favourites including HEROES, THE OFFICE, THE BIGGEST LOSER, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, SURVIVOR as well as the top rated hit, HOUSE.
Adding to the excitement is the acquisition of broadband rights across a variety of programming inclusive of new fare such as 90210,KNIGHT RIDER and MY OWN WORST ENEMY, and returning hit series HEROES, HOUSEand THE OFFICE.
“This is our breakthrough year for digital media,” said Williams. “Canwest was the first to stream US primetime programming online in Canada and continues to pioneer this area with the support of our valued partners at NBC, CBS and Sony. With 17 titles cleared for online, the volume of programming we are offering our viewers is creative, robust and certainly not the end of a trend.”
